RESCUE YOU

Will I rescue you with orange sparks
Flying under blue banners
Wavy like tongues climbing the walls
Lizards looking for green apples
Mouths hissing up the steps
Up the pyramid candelabra
Dripping like a dead body
Elbows bent.

Will I rescue you with braided tails
Stone by stone torn down
Unraveling like a swan’s combed neck
Fire put out with nasturtium milk
As a man kills another man
Breaking every bone
In the flower stems
Softest at their wrists.
